Da Shu Xia Seafood House, also known as 海乾大树下海鲜饭店, has an intriguing history. It had humble beginnings as a chu char restaurant located beneath a large, shady tree at Weld Quay.

However, in today's reality, Da Shu Xia Seafood House would be a close second. The restaurant has a long history, starting its operations next to the overhead bridge at Weld Quay, across from the ferry terminal. Inside the restaurant stood an old huge tree.

Originally located at one of the longhouses along Weld Quay below a huge tree, therefore the name Da Shu Xia, they’ve since moved to Lebuh Victoria.

If you are the frequent visitor of the Weld Quay Restaurant at Tree Shade then you should know they have moved to this new place at Lebuh Victoria. Which I think is better as they also have their own car park just a few minutes walk away.

Da Shu Xia Seafood House 大树下海鲜饭店 should not be a stranger for Penangites. It was located under a shady tree (hence “Da Shu Xia”) opposite of jetty terminal at Weld Quay.
