Anyway, my regular oh chien place in Penang is the stall at Kedai Kopi Bee San in Ayer Itam. But during my recent trip to the island, I asked Penang boys Ken and Bok to take me for oh chien at Kedai Kopi Seng Thor on Lebuh Carnarvon.

I have been to the stall in Seng Thor coffeeshop with my family and visitors a few times. The owner, Mr Lim has been frying Oh Chien for over fifty years after inheriting from his father. It is widely known as the “famous Carnavon Street Oh Chien”.

If there was a dish I grew up on in Penang (besides char kway teow ), it would have to be the oyster omelette. I have fond memories of fighting over oysters with my sibling (it was always an expensive dish so we would have to share a plate).
