Ais Tingkap is one of Penang’s most well-known beverages; ideally placed near Chowrasta Market, it is a must-try for both residents and visitors. Another must-try item is ice kacang.

One of them is Ais Tingkap at Lebuh Tamil. It was hot sunny afternoon and Ken decided to bring us for a refreshment break as most of us would definitely know Penang Famous Cendol located at Penang Road but another hidden gem which is hidden at Lebuh Tamil (a road next to…

Ais Tingkap is one of the most unusual things I have ever tried but it’s delicious and worth trying. This relic from the 1930’s that originated in the Middle East as “sharbat”, found its way to George Town Penang, where one family still serves up the drink at their stall.

Penang is known for its cendol and ais kacang but I recently learnt about Ais Tingkap, a rose coloured drink with coconut flesh and basil seeds (biji selasih). The Ais Tingkap stall is located in Tamil Street, beside Chowrasta Market.

Tamil Street (Lebuh Tamil) is a narrow road next to Chowrasta Market (Pasar Chowrasta). There is an Indian drinks stall here called Ais Tingkap. Operating since 1928, Ais Tingkap is also known as "Window Sherbet" because its drinks were originally sold through a window.

This is the best chendol I have had in Penang, after trying the most famous one and also expensive one. It's very authentic and definitely old school. When it comes to chendol, the authenticity is a complex formula.

The drinks were okay and met expectations—nothing particularly special, but the quality was decent overall. I visited during lunchtime, and unfortunately the AIS coconut water was completely sold out.

I tried the cendol at Ais Tingkap and it was really refreshing. The shaved ice was soft and smooth, and the gula Melaka added a rich, sweet flavor that wasn’t too overpowering.

Long queue but service is fast, efficient workers every hour have a task to smooth the process. Suitable for drinking because Penang is really hot and the water is refreshing with syrup+coconut.

No place for dine in. Grab and go. Decent, personally for me nothing to shout. First time trying and prolly won’t crave for it 😊 Would be nice on a hot day. Best to park elsewhere and walk over. ✌🏼

The coconut itself is delicious. But I prefer the lychee, which is delicious. The portion and price are reasonable. The cendol is delicious. The service is fast, but the que is really hot.
